Why Lowlines? If you could reap more product/profit with less work in less space....Would you consider it worth a try? I would! And I did! Here are some of my reasons..... EFFICIENCY AND FEED CONVERSION. Lowline Angus have proven themselves to be more efficient at converting forage into beef than the average full size commercial beef animal. Here are some statistics gleaned from other sources.
*The number of cows per acre varies according to region. This figure is for comparison purposes only. A Lowline calf can almost double his birthweight during the first 6 weeks of life, due to the dam's efficient milk production. IDEAL FOR GRASSFED BEEF PRODUCTION Grassfed beef and dairy products are becoming known for the superior health benefits they provide to the consumer. The balance of Omega3 to Omega 6 is more natural and superior to artificially fed livestock. It is healthier for the animal as well as the consumer. CLA is well known for its health benefits. Lowline Angus are ideally suited to spending their entire lives grazing the way the Creator intended. They plump up easily on pasture. There is no need to send them to a feedlot to "finish." QUALITY OF PRODUCT With utrasound technology live beef animals can be qualified for ability to produce high grade carcasses. Here are actual results from Utah State and Idaho Universities. Thank you to MiniCows West! SIZE AND TEMPERMENT The birthweight of Lowline Angus calves averages between 35 and 50 pounds (16-23 KG.) These calves are easy to handle for routine health care, being the size of a medium to large dog. If the mothers have been handled and are used to the owner, most are cooperative in allowing calf handling. The average adult Lowline Angus range in height from 36" to 44" (92-110cm.) Mature cows are around 800 pounds (362 kg) and bulls 1000 pounds (454 kg.) The newborn calf is curious, as are all babies. This is a very good time to teach them NOT to fear humans. These traits make them ideal for youth projects, retired people, folks just getting started in the world livestock ownership and just about anyone wanting to raise a little beef at home. SOMETHING UNIQUE. Want to be a little different, not like all your neighbors? Not everyone on your block will have one of these! They are guaranteed to be a conversation starter. I have had people say things like: "What happened to their legs?" "Are those REALLY cows?" "What DO you do with them?" You will find answers.. Which will lead to more questions. And very often to this question.. "Where can I get one of these?!" GOOD INVESTMENT These little cattle are in very high demand right now. Land is becoming more scarce. Consumers are looking for SAFE FOOD SOURCES. Ranchers are looking to maximize profits per acre. Lowline Angus have been selling like the proverbial hotcakes for the last three years.
